Change in leadership at AFARI

Executive Director JB Hoover to step down on September 30, 2020

After several years of strategic planning, thoughtful consideration and discussion, the AFARI Board of Directors has recognized that it is time for a change in leadership to assist AFARI in advancing its goals. Our current Executive Director, J.B Hoover, has agreed to step aside and allow for this transition.

The Board of Directors extends its gratitude to JB for his leadership over the last 14 years, of which, ten of those were in the position of Executive Director. JB was AFARI’s first paid staff member and played a significant role in growing the organization to where it is today. Throughout his tenure, JB has carried out his duties with integrity and to the highest ethical standards.

JB is most proud of the following accomplishments:

●      Consistently achieving annual budget surpluses allowing the organization to establish a strategic initiative fund.

●      Establishing the Takami Scholarship fund with the generous support of a major donor.

●      Helping to establish the new and much needed ARI staff position of Graduate Outreach Coordinator.

●      Providing ever increasing support to ARI with last year’s contributions to ARI being the most ever from AFARI.

Speaking about his planned departure, JB said, “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the hundreds of ARI/AFARI supporters who have opened up their hearts and have generously contributed in so many ways to AFARI’s support of ARI. On speaking tours, you have opened up your homes to me, we have eaten together, prayed together and worked to make a positive impact together. You have changed me for the better and I thank God for this opportunity for such meaningful work.”

If any members of the ARI/AFARI community have any questions or comments regarding this announcement, please email me directly.

Sincerely,

Margret Hofmeister

President, AFARI Board of Directors
